Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Heir's Tax Liability on jointly inherited property

My mother's home in New Jersey will be left to her 4 children when she passes, with instructions that the property be sold and proceeds divided evenly. One brother also living in New Jersey owes considerable back taxes in another state (a city wage tax). Would the neighboring state (PA) have legal claim to any of the proceeds from the property to satisfy the delinquent taxes of the one heir.

The simple answer is no, unless the other state files a judgment in New Jersey. Also, if the Estate sells the house no judgements or liens of any of the heirs should effect the title. Any further questions, please contact
