Re: Hidden Trust

A tax ID number for a trust is a unique number issued by IRS for reporting income. It bears no relation to a person's social security number. The number issed by the state (usually ending in 000) is also a unique number that usuaally does not relate to one's social security number. Unless you have some contact with the trust (like being the Grantor, the person who created the trust, or a trustee), you have no authority to get information from IRS. Unless income is passed through to you from the trust, in which case you would get a Form K-1 (like a 1099 from a bank), you would have no way to get that ID number. You have not explained your real concern, so no further information is provided in this response. This is a reply to an Internet question and the response is not intended to be considered as legal advice or to create an attorney-client relationship.
