Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

I own a home in NJ. My mother and father are listed on my deed, as I purchased the home prior to getting married. Once I married, we never changed the deed. Both of my parents are now deceased (within the past two years) -- I was their sole heir. I have recently settled their estate and paid the taxes on their estate. The taxes were audited and now they are saying that I am responsible for paying taxes on my home because I inherited 2/3rds of my home from my parents. My husband and I have paid our mortgage and taxes on our own (my parents did not contribute although their names were on the deed). Is there a loophole to avoid having to pay this? Please help

This is a fairly complex question that will take some work. What you are describing does not seem correct.

Why don't you come see me. I will meet with you and go over your situation. I will explain what legal issues I see, and what I can do to assist you. I will also give you my best estimate of the cost for attorney's fees.

This will be a free consultation. After we talk, you can decide what you would like to do.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and let's get moving on this for you. No charge for the telephone call and no charge for the first office visit.

I agree with the previous Attorney that this sounds like a complex question. I would suggest that we set up an appointment so that I can discus this matter with you and review the documents.
