what happens to a house when no will is left .

my grandmother resently died and no one can find her will. I wanted to know who legally has control of her house? she has 3 natural sons 1 adopted son and 1 daughter.

If there was no Will, your grandmother died intestate (no Will). If your grandfather predeceased her, the estate would go to the children, natural and adopted, in equal shares. One or more of you would have to be appointed as Administrator (all are entitled to be appointed but can renounce your right to be appointed) and would need Surrogate's Court appointment to act for all. You willprobably be required to post a bond and submit an accounting to the Surrogate. Best is to retain someone, like myself, familiar with these matters to assist you in the probate matter and handling the estate and accounting to the other heirs.
