In New Jersey, by law, does the co-executor of a will receive a percentage of the estate and how would that be obtained?

Yes, both executors are entitled to a commission. The calculation is based upon a percentage of the assets comprising the "probate" estate [i.e. assets that pass under the Will]. There is an extra payment for each additional co-executor. There is also a commission payable on any income earned by the estate.
