Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Legal Right to Parent's Cause of Death

I live in FL. My father died in NJ. I

was not in will. Brother is co-

executor of will with so-called non-

related ''friend of father''. Brother

does not have copy of will and does

not want to pursue at this time.

Father signed paperwork when ill so

MDs could not give me any medical

information. I would like to know my

father's cause of death so I can put

closure on this and also for my own

medical history. What are my rights

to this information. Note - I do not

want money or property, only

information.

I agree with Bernard. As a family member you are entitled to get a copy, although a small fee might be charged.

If you call the funeral director, you can get a copy of the death certificate. Otherwise, contact the town clerk in the town he died and get a copy there.
