Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

length of time you can contest a will

7 years ago I was the primary beneficiary of my aunts will. One other niece and nephew were to receive $ 12,500 each. The estate was settled in December 2000. Could the estate be contested even after 7 years?

Re: length of time you can contest a will

It's hard to answer your question because you don't provide much information.

However, based on your statement that "one other niece and nephew WERE to receive $12,500 each"...I assume they never got the money. Unless they were paid and the executor had them sign a refunding bond and release, then they could still seek payment from the executor.

That said, I doubt they could "contest the estate" meaning contest the will, because too much time has passed (this assumes they were given proper notice of probate, etc.).
