Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

I am listed in a will to receive 25K. I was also named on a bank account by the deceased that has 50K in it to be paid upon death(not a joint account). Am I entitled to the money in the bank account?

I would need to review a copy of the Will to give you an answer, however, as a general rule, the fact that you are named as a beneficiary in the will would not change the fact that you are also named as the beneficiary of a POD bank account...so here you would recieve a total of $75,000. That should be the case unless the Will refers to the POD account or there is some other contrary intent shown.

I agree with Jon that unless there is some language in the Will that limits your taking under the Will if you also get the POD account, you get both. I, likewise, would have to read the Will to see what, if anything, it states about your inheritance.
