Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

My mother is a co-trustee of an irrevocable trust. The other trustee (her sister-in-law) has died. My mom is now being asked to waive her "right to be Released as co-trustee" or "hire outside counsel". What should she do?

The question does not make sense. I need more facts to be able to help you. Is the trust terminating? Is a trust accounting being prepared? If so, is it formal or informal?
