Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

i was not named in parents wills or insurance policies, my brothers lawyer is making me sign a release that i will never sue him or his wife. why would i have to sign a relases

This makes no sense. There is no reason for you to sign a release if you don't receive any property from the estate [either probate or non-probate property]. What exactly, would you be releasing them from?

If they want you to sign a release, they should offer you some type of inducement [i.e. money] to do so.
