Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey
in NJ is there an actual reading of a will my brother who is the executor says that by recieving a copy of the will in the mail this constitutes a "reading of the will"

No.
A "reading of the Will" [usually at the lawyer's office] is a creation of Hollywood movies and late night T.V. shows. It rarely if ever happens in the real world.
Your brother is correct. There is no formal "Reading" of the Will. The beneficiaries just receive a copy of the Will and that provides the notice.
I hope this helps!

There is no formal reading of the will but there is a requirement that you send the will to all beneficiaries.
I concur - a formal reading is only done today in movies or TV shows. All NJ law requires is that the Executor notify actual and potential heirs of the probate of the Will. Usually a copy is sent with the notice.
