Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Pobate NJ

My uncle pased away on oct. 26th 2006 in NJ. where he lived. I live in Washinton state. His estate I beleive was substantial and he had made reference to me being in his will. When I called the surrougates office in NJ to find out if the will is in probate they tell they have no record of it being probated yet. My question is do all wills in NJ have to be probated and what is the time frame for that process to begin/end and what is the process and time frame for me to be notified concerning his estate. His brother is the executor, lives in Flordia, and we are not close and I am not comfortable contacting him at this point. Also are wills public information and how might I obtain a copy in NJ.

I tried rejecting this question so a NJ lawyer could have a crack at it, but here you are again.

This is a NEW JERSEY question, not a Washington question. You need a lawyer in NEW JERSEY to answer it.
