Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Preparing a New Will without an Attorney

I had a will drawn up by by my late husbands attorney, who is a close friend of his Son. I now wish to prepare another will and change the executor, but don not wish to use the services of an attorney, if I prepare this on my own and have the 2 witness and a notary sign it will it supercede the old will?

This should be OK - If you are not going to use an attorney (I don't recommend this), at least use a form from an office supply place like Staples or Office Max that conforms to NJ law. I would say that having an attorney do it for you - should not run more than $75 - $100 , would be worth the cost.

Possibly.

You (and your heirs) will be better served by using a qualified attorney to be certain that the new Will is both prepared and executed according to law.
