How do you calculate a probate fee in New Jersey?

The State has fees defined by Statute. It cost less than $200 in fees to file a Will with the Surrogate. The problem comes when the beneficiaries cannot agree on an informal accounting and a formal accounting must get approved by court. There is a sliding scale but it can be rounded to 1/2% for a quick estimate.

Also, if there is no Will, the administrator my have to purchase a bond out of the assets of the estate. This Bond can have expensive premiums paid to the insurance company.
