Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey
Roped Into JTWROS
My wife's Grandfather died in Florida about 1 year ago. Her mother is executing the estate. Over the past year she has indicated that there would be no inheritence.
My wife was recently notified that an account was being set up for her portion of the estate. She also recieved a letter stating that she would recieve 1/9 of the estate along with 3 other beneficiaries.
When my wife asked her mother about this, she was evasive. We ''inherited some stock'' but she will not disclaim the amount, type, or value of the stock.
A few days later she badgered my wife into signing forms that she didn't understand, then ran to Florida for 2 weeks. We then started getting information about this account which is being set up as JTWROS between my wife and her mother (executor)! The other 3 accounts are individual.
Is there any way we can have her mother's name removed from this account, or can my wife sell or transfer this on her own?
Isn't my wife entitled to know exactly what she is getting from this estate?

Re: Roped Into JTWROS
It sounds like you've been duped here.
I assume the letter you refer to was sent by the attorney handling the estate. You should immediately contact the attorney handling this estate and demand a copy of the will and all probate papers which have been filed to date.
Without a copy of the Will, you really have no idea what your rights are.
