Trying to sell an inherited house
My husband inherited his mother's house w/ his 2 brothers. we have been trying to sell for a really long time but haven't been able to. The brother's are trying to sell to someone who has had us hanging for about 6 months. in the meantime, we have a tax lein and are going to go into foreclosure. my husband wants to get a mortgage in his name to pay the taxes and mortgage. if his brother's don't agree to this, is there anything else he can do.

Re: Trying to sell an inherited house
In order to get a mortgage on the inherited property everyone would have to sign. If your husband wants to pay the tax bills until the house is sold, he would have to take a home equity loan out on your house and get reimbursed at the closing. At the very least his brothers should sign something saying he will get paid back. Call me if you have any other questions.
