Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Is share in a coop considered real estate for probate

My father passed. He owned shares of stock in his coop residence in New Jersey...This is probably the only asset he had. I am the heir named in his will. My question, Is this considered real estate? If it is not, does that mean in the state of New Jersey that I don't have to probate the will?

Shares in a co-op are not considered real property. However, I would recommend probating your father's will anyway so that an executor is appointed.
