Timeline for Will Contest
In general, how long in the State of NJ do you have to contest a will after it has been admitted to probate? Thank you very much

Re: Timeline for Will Contest
While NJ law allows a caveat to be filed up to 4 months after probate, I suggest not waiting that long, so who knows what could happen in the interim. Further, this time limit is absolute, and cannot be extended except for unusual circumstances, and granting extensions is rare. I should also caution you that Will contests can be long, drawn-out affairs, and quite costly to pursue, so you must evaluate if the time and cost justifies bringing a contest. If you have a valid basis for doing so, you might want to initiate mediation and if this produces no results, file your caveat.
