Re: Transfer of inheritance tax

The Transfer Inheritance Tax Form is the form filed for a decedent's estate that determines whether or not and, if so, how much death taxes are due when a person dies. The return list all assets and persons entitled to share in the estate and how mjuch each gets. If your father left you anything, it wiuld have been reported in that return. Usually husband's leave everything to a wife, but that is not always the case. I suggest you contact the Surrogate's office where your father lived when he died, for a small fee you can get a copy of his Will and learn if you were left anything. They will also tell you who was appointed to handle the estate and the attorney representing the estate.
