First, you should have the Will probated in the County of your Grandmother's residence. Since you are a lineal descendant of your Grandmother, there will not be NJ inheritance tax (there may be US and NJ ESTATE tax.) The Executor will give you a Deed to the property.

I hope this helps!

First question is, how do you know what the Will says....was it ever put into probate at the Surrogates Office in the County where she resided? If so, by whom? If it hasn't been done, that is the first step. I can provide you with assistance if you tell me the county we are discussing.

Second, a new Deed needs to be drafted. Once again, if you don't know how to do this, leave it to a professional. I can provide this service for a small fee.

Third, once drafted and executed, the Will needs to be filed with appropriate short certificates.

Don't hesitate to call the office or write me back at [email protected] with any further information or questions.

Mike
