Will in probate

My cousin died 4,25,2007, I was left $10,000 in his will. I have been contacted by the probate atty to get my SS#, dob and phone. It has been over a year. IS this a normal lenght of time? Should I receive interest on this money?

Re: Will in probate

2 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF DEATH IS STILL A SHORT TIME TO RECEIVE YOUR INHERITANCE. YOU DO NOT SAY WHAT MATTERS MIGHT STILL BE INVOLVED. IF THE ESTATE IS SUBJECT TO A DEATH TAX (AND AS A COUSIN YOUR INHERITENCE WOULD BE SUBJECT TO DEATH TAXES IN NJ), IF ASSETS NNED TO BE LIQUIDATED OR ANY OF OTHER THINGS THAT MIGHT NEED TO BE DONE PRELIMINARILY, THIS COULD HOLD UP YOUR RECEIPT OF YOUR ENTITLEMENT. A SIMPLE PHONE CALL TO THE ATTORNEY SHOULD PUT YOUR MIND AT EASE.
