Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Wills

I was told that the executor of a will in Florida has to be a relative. In what states on the east coast of the U.S. can a non-relative by an executor of a will?

Thank you.

Re: Wills

I am a NJ attorney so I don't know FL law but I find it hard to believe that. Some people don't have close relatives and others don't have any they would trust to do the job. In NJ any 'fit' person over age 18 can be an executor. Don't know about other states but I believe this is pretty much universal.
