Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

If someone writes a will and stipulates that a relative get a set of china, what happens if in the interim, the person sells/breaks/loses the china before he dies. Does the will have to be changed?

What does the executor have to do in this case?

The executor can't distribute what he does not have. If the item mentioned in the will has been sold or destroyed/lost prior to death, then the beneficiary simply does not get that particular item.
