In New Jersey, an injured worker is entitled to temporary disability benefits if he/she has lost time from work for seven (7) days.

The seven (7) day period includes Saturday, Sundays and holidays.

After the seven (7) days period, benefits are paid retroactively.

The laws in all the states differ on when Workers' Comp benefits are to be paid. I am in Illinois, so I cannot answer your question directly. You should consult a lawyer in New Jersey. The answer is quite simple to someone who knows Worker's Comp.
