Legal Question in Workers Comp in New Jersey
What can I expect at end of case?
I fell a year ago at work, I tore two discs and herniated a third. I underwent three epidural injections and a discagram, I finally had lumbar fusion with rods, screws and cages. I was told by the surgeon that I will not be able to return to my job, due to the ''heavy lifting'',my trade requires me to lift heavy things in excess of 75 to 100 lbs at times, I am limited to lifting 40 lbs. I am uneducated and I am afraid that I will not be able to earn the same amount of money that I was making at my job. I am a single father and I have kids and my whole life is ahead of me. What can I expect to get at the end of my case? Will I be compensated for the loss of the ability to earn the amount of money I was making? I am very worried for my future. I have a workers compensation attorney, but he is tight lipped about the outcome, I have received medical benefits and temporary benefits thus far. But he will not give me a estimated idea of what will happen to me at the end of the case. He has told me ''it will all work out in the end''. But I need a more soild answer then that, I really worry about my future.

Re: What can I expect at end of case?
The amount of disability you will be granted will be listed as a percentage, which will then translate into a dollar value. The way that the percentage of disability is reached is through the two or more different disability examinations that you will be sent to as part of your case. The various doctors will reach their own conclusions as to how much disability they feel you have. Your lawyer will then most likely try to work out a settlement for you based on these findings.
