Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Mexico
how can I protect myself
I own some property in NM but live in AZ, I cut some trees down, although they're not cut up. My fear is despite several ''Keep Out'' and ''No Tresspassing'' signs in full view, someone may go onto my property for the wood or for whatever reason and hurt themselves. I don't want to get sued, is there anything I can do to keep this from happening? I'm so worried about it, please help me.
Thank you very much.

Re: how can I protect myself
In NM a land owner owes no duty to a trespasser other than not to create artificial hazards which would endanger him. In other words, if he trips over a log and hurts himself, you will have no liability for that injury provided he is (1) a trespasser without permission, and (2)you did not set a trap for him in which he became injured.
