Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Mexico
I would like to know whether I am responsible for my dead spouse's liabilities(medical bills & some credit card debt). The house and vehicle is in my name(she had bad credit). The insurance we used for her hospital stay was under my name. I live in NM.

NM is a community property state. That means that assets and liabilities of the marriage are the responsibility of both partners. There are exceptions, but medical expenses are usually a community debt which both partners are liable. Certain necessities charged to credit cards are also community debts. You may wish to consult a bankruptcy attorney. Initial consultations are usually done at no cost.
