Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Mexico
child molestation
My father molested me repeatedly
during the period of 1972-1974. I
realize the statute of limitations has
passed, but would like this man to be
held accountable in some way, even
if it just brings his history of being a
child molester to light. What are our
(me & my sister's) options?
The abuse took place in Texas, where
he still resides.

Re: child molestation
When did you reach age 18? The statute did not begin to run until you were age 18. Even if the statute of limitations for money damages is expired, you should consider consulting an attorney about bringing an action for declaratory judgment or something creative like that, which might not be time-barred.
