Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Mexico
Community Service
My son received 48 hours of community service to be completed by Nov. 1. The place where he was doing the community service misfigured his hours and told him on October 29 that he had his 48 hours. Now come to find out, he was short 4 hours, which he completed on Nov. 5. Will this cause his suspended sentence to be upheld? P.S. Misdemeanor DV conviction

Re: Community Service
If the facts are as you stated, this should not cause him a problem. A letter from the agency which caused the mistake describing it would be good insurance. So long as he fully complied with the Court's Order, being a few days late in completing his CS will not usually upset anything, particularly under the circumstances you describe.
