Crime rates vis-a-vis weather

I have not done any reading in this area for over 3 decades but I recall during the 60s that research was being conducted by university behavioral scientists correlating the full moon and increased crime rates. As I recall, the studies were done on the East and West coasts. You may want to do a search for behavioral science AND moon AND crime.

Weather as a crime factor

I really cannot help you very much as far as any scientific studies are concerned. However as a criminal defense attorney for the past quarter century, I offer the following observation. Warm weather puts people on the streets, if for no other reason than just a breath of cooler air. Hence, more bad guys/gals are out on the streets with a more populated pool of potential victims and hence, more crimes will occur. Another correlation would be in the arena of burglary. I surmise that more people are on vacation in summer months and hence more burglaries. These are just gut level feelings from the "trenches" of criminal courts. I'd be interested if more defined research bears them out.
