Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Mexico
deferred felonies--can I buy firearms
I am going to court on monday. The plea they offered me was plead no contest to two felonies and I would receive a deferred sentence for 18 months. I have no prior felonies. The question is can I still own and purchase firearms. If you could help me I would be grateful.

Re: deferred felonies--can I buy firearms
No. You will be prohibited from possessing any dangerous weapon, including a firearm, until you complete any sentence and/or probation/parole term imposed by the state, after which you may apply for a restoration of some of your civil rights under some circumstances. You may still have exposure as a prohibited person within the federal system.
