If you are guilty, you go to court and work out a plea agreement with the prosecutor. If you are not guilty, you get your evidence and witnesses lined up and go to trial. Since you have substantial rights at stake (if convicted, you can never again possess a firearm), if you do not have a lawyer you should get one immediately.
