Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Mexico

Larceny

Can someone please give me advice or show me the process of courts in my situation and what percentage do you think i can win or lose.

I live in New Mexico, was 15 when there was a police report and am now 16. The situation is in school, we were walking to class, cut thru lecture hall to get to class faster, dark room, lots of ppl walked thru, and once i walked up stairs a girl tapped me on my shoulder asking me if i had taken something of hers, and i said no didnt but u can search me if u would like but she said no no its fine i trust u, once i got to class, 5 minutes later, finding myself going to the office for the missing ipod. school patted me down, searched me. Yet to find nothing. wrote a police report sent it to DA supposably charged for ''larceny''. the girls friend was a witness, supposably saw me shove my whole hand into the owner of the ipod's backpack and took it and walked away in the lecture hall. now i m sitting here waiting for the court date, march 16th, 12 more days til court date. anyone can kind of predict or give me some tips on this case, thanks in advance

Re: Larceny

You should consult a private attorney or a Children's Court attorney before doing anything. You should not speak with anyone, particularly classmates, about the charges until you have done so. The Children's Court attorney will represent you at no charge. Call the Children's Court and speak with one. At your Court hearing ask for an attorney and don't tell any story until after you have consulted with one. Bottom line, you have a right to remain silent. Exercise it. Get legal counsel. Do it now.
