Protocol
In a breaking and entering case why would the officer hand over the case to a detictive.

Detectives are routinely assigned felony investigations which are often times beyond the expertise of beat cops. The purpose is to gather sufficient evidence for a Grand Jury Indictment and a follow-up conviction.
