how long does a court have to prosecute a felon for felon in possession of a firearm?

10 years in New Mexico, but federal law does not have a limitation period. One may be prosecuted under both state and federal law if a prohibited person [felon]possesses an operative or non-operative, loaded or unloaded firearm and/or ammunition.
