Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

child support

I pay child support now and my ex wife asks me to help out with shoes, school stuff, etc. My line work is such that my income is up and down. I know the child support calculation is a average of my income. My question is if I can help out with extra stuff I am happy to and explain that to her, but when I can't am I under a certain legal obligation to pay more than what is agreed upon? I understood child support was for that and you are under no obligation to pay extra.

Re: child support

So long as your Marital Settlement Agreement or other court order does not obligate you to pay for such 'extra' things your understanding is correct.

Good luck.
