I assume you're talking about a report of abuse or neglect of a child. There are three types of reports: emergency - assigned to a investigator immediately, investigation initiated within 3 hours. Priority one, assigned immediately, initiated within 24 hours. Priority two, assigned to an investigator within 24 hours, initiated within 5 days. All investigations must be completed within 30 days, but an extension up to 30 days is possible. See New Mexico Administrative Code, Section 8.10.3.
