A summons is a document that tells you someone has sued you. It does not set a court date for you to go to court; it tells you that you need to respond to the lawsuit within a particular period of time. A subpoena sets a court date and tells you to be at court at a time and place. If you received a summons in the mail you should have received the law suit with it. If you did not receive the law suit you can contact the lawyer who sent it to you or you can go to the court house, to the clerk's office, and tell them you need a copy of the law suit. Once you get that you will know why you are being sued. After that, as you have done here, go talk to a lawyer to determine your options.

Good Luck.
