My first reaction in reading your query is "wow, did you pick the wrong place to pull this one!" In your town there was some lady that did this and collected welfare or child support for a child that did not exist. I think it was over Thankgiving weekend that the guy's new wife was up on a billboard trying to get the attention of the governor to help them out. I suspect that you realize some lies are worse than others.

If, as you say, you have not collected any money or gained other income for this act you may not be prosecuted for a crime but if you end up going to court you can probably expect, at the very least, to be chewed out by the judge.

I have told people, in the past on this bulletin board, to go get a lawyer. But, you should take that advice to heart and get a lawyer as soon as you possibly can. Else, you may be wishing you had had a lawyer.

Good luck.
