Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

Is it illegal for a convicted sex offender,(sex with a 12 y/o girl), to live with a 14 y/o girl? He is married to the girl's mother, but it doesn't seem right. He was convicted of 5th degree sexual imposition in Ohio. He now lives in New Mexico.

The New Mexico sex offender registration act is a disclosure requirement, it places no restrictions on the sex offender as far as I can tell as long as he/she complies with the disclosure requirements. I don't know how the Ohio offense relates to the offenses listed requiring registration in New Mexico, but he may be required to register. The court that convicted him may have placed conditions of probation regarding contact with minors. As long as he's in compliance with those, and the girl's mother knows about the conviction and his history it's up to her to monitor the relationship between him and the girl.
