Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

My kids were taken by cyfd, now they say that they took a hair follicle and they all tested dirty for drugs and there is no way. I have heard they took my kids because they are very.adoptable. I.don't know what to.do I feel they are doing things to take.my kids permanently and.they.know.I don't have the money for a lawyer and.I am an ex user but I went through rehab and pride myself on.my sobriety. Please help. I'm in.the state of NM the county of Torrance. Thank you.

There's a long process they have to go through before they can terminate your parental rights. If they have taken the kids they have to first try to place them with a family member, if they can't find one they put them with a foster family. Meantime there are some meetings and hearings that are required and if you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed for you. Talk to the CYFD caseworker and ask them for an attorney, and for the dates set for meetings and court hearings. They must notify you of these hearings at the last address they have for you so make sure they have your correct contact information - mailing address, phone numbers, e-mail.
