Can I legally change my kids last name to my maiden name

If child is under 14 you can ask the court to do that, but you have to publish notice in the paper. Anybody can come to court and object, the Judge decides. If child is over 14 child can petition. See New Mexico statutes Chapter 40 - Section 8.
