Marriage

can you take a new spouse to court for lying to you to get you to marry them. can they be sued for deceiving you totally and completely and then abandoning you after 1 month of marriage.

As one judge I knew used to tell people "this is America where you can sue anyone anytime for anything!" And the answer is yes, you can sue this person. The next question is what are you suing them for? If it only for lying and being deceitful then you may not get anything more than a divorce out of the deal. If it is because they married you and then stole a bunch of stuff from you and then left you then you might get a little be more out of the results. Contact a divorce lawyer in your town or, contact the state bar of NM and they will give you a lawyer referral and see what a lawyer might tell you about the details of your case.
