Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

Was married 14 years ago then divorced 2 years later, after a year of seperation we reunited and have lived together legally unmarried for the next 10 years. We have businesses in both our names and seperately. We have two children together. What are my legal rights regarding our home, and finances should he decide he wants out of our unlegal union. We live in New Mexico and our children are ages 14 years and 3 years.

You are in a somewhat unique situation; however, the straight forward legal answer is that you should generally look at yourself as a business partner who lives with your partner. As to your children you can look at that as an unmarried person who lives with the children's other parent. Thus, consider partnership law in regards to your situation and you'll have a pretty good idea as to your legal rights. You really, really, need to spend an hour or two with a family law lawyer to get a clear idea and answer to your inquiry.
