If a parent loses his parental rights, does he still pay child support?

There is a new case in NM wherein the court of appeals states that termination of parental rights can / or does terminate an obligation to pay child support. The case is called AEDA , Petitioner�Appellee, v. AEDA, Respondent�Appellant. It is No. 31,182 and was decided: July 24, 2013 . You can find a copy of the case at this URL:

My suspicion is that is area of law is not totally settled but this case moves in a clear direction saying that if you lose your parental rights your obligation to pay child support will also be severed.
