Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

Respondant Forms for Divorce?

I need to respond to a petition for divorce that was issued to me and I need to make two changes before it is final, i do not know if there are legal forms for a respondant. The only changes needed are to be able to alternate the years in filing taxes in claiming our son inwhich she may have the odd years and i may have the even, Also the other change is the time she listed as to sharing time with my son she listed that she would have him 95% of the time which is untrue we both share him equally 50/50. Your attention to this would be greatly appreciated I only have until 3/27/05 to respond.

Thank You

Re: Respondant Forms for Divorce?

The law guru provides guidance not legal representation. First and foremost, consult with an attorney. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney go and visit with an attorney pay for an hour of time and ask the specific question you asked here. You may be surprised at the wealth of knowledge you will walk away with. However, if you cannot or will not speak with an attorney you can retype the document that your soon to be ex has provided to you. If you cannot type it you can hire someone to type it for you. I would suspect you could find someone to type it for you who would not charge a lot of money. When you retype the document put in the provisions that you want. If the mother agrees then both of you can sign the document and present it to the court for review and approval. However, if you cannot reach an agreement then you could contact a mediator or ask an attorney to perform the role of intermediary. Attorneys can act as the middle person to help two parties reach a consensus.

Good Luck.
