If you are receiving public assistance then go to child support enforcement division and ask to speak with your caseworker. You did not list your zip code so I cannot look to see if there is a judicial self help center near you. Many of the courthouses now, in NM, have a pro se self help center where you can sign up and go visit with an attorney for a few minutes and get clarification on your legal issue. Your specific question cannot be adequately answered without knowing whether you have received public assistance or not. If you have then go to CSED (child support enforcement) and they can help you. Public assistance can mean medicaid, food stamps or even cash assistance or any combination of those items. If you have not had the assistance then you have to file papers in a different way. Either way you should file some document asking the court to set child support sooner rather than later. Your primary question is which way to file: with CSED or without CSED?

Hope this helps.
