Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New Mexico

I own a silk-screening business here in NM. If I print and sell t-shirts that say, " #1 (insert team name here) Fan ," without using the organization's exact font and without including any other identifying marks or logos of their organization, and without using any copyright symbol on my print, would I be committing copyright infringement?

If the team has copyrighted its name, such as "Detroit Lions," you may not use it without their express written permission. Most likely the name is copyrighted or trade-named, but you could research it or contact the club to be sure.
