Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New Mexico
My son, using our ISP, downloaded a movie using BitTorrent. We have just been notified that we, and nearl;y 6,000 others, are being sued for copyright infringement. Their case seems based on a change in technology that they claim makes him a distributor not just a consumer. Should we hire a lawyer, try and settle out of court, or what?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Whenever you're sued by anyone, always hire an attorney. If you've been sued, you need to respond with a responsive pleading within a relatively short period of time. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
