Legal Question in Employment Law in New Mexico
I am a paramedical examiner. As an independent contractor for various company's, they pay 6 weeks after the work is completed.
For reasons unknown to me, although I suspect that my branching out on my own is major contributor, I was let go and will not receive anymore cases from them. I am returning their equipment today.
The company owes me approx. $3500 for cases completed from 1/2012 through 4/4/2012. My question: can I demand all past due amounts? Or just the past due minus the last 6 weeks?
I am in New Mexico, Albuquerque area.

What you can demand and what you are entitled to is whatever they owe you. The 6 weeks is not a factor when they are terminating your employment - you are entitled to the entire amount owed when the termination is complete.
